Yes,
I do believe the children's crusade happened, perhaps not exactly as the author describes
it, but I did find a seemingly reputable website that has a similar
story. I think that people back in those days really believed that God
could speak to them and was telling them what to do with their lives,
the children did not want to be left out of this amazing event. So,
yes, I do believe this happened, to what extent, I do not know.
